Megan has over a decade of experience helping children, adolescents, and adults achieve their personal goals and improve their relationships. Meg is board-certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors and she specializes in treating child & adolescent concerns, anxiety disorders, OCD, and trauma.
Treatment Philosophy & Focus
Meg believes people often seek therapy because they have one or more areas of their life in which they feel “stuck”. Sometimes they’ve tried therapy before and felt validated but left without learning practical skills to move forward in their healing. Meg is passionate about seeing clients gain insight that leads to growth and a sense of purpose in their lives. Clients have made comments such as “highly intuitive” and “not judgmental”. They appreciate a good sense of humor and direct and clear conversations which help clients to feel hopeful, supported, and equipped to improve their quality of life.
Meg works with children as young as 5 and through adult. Her approach to therapy is collaborative, integrative, and strengths-based. She combines techniques from Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic therapy, and Solution-Focused therapy in her work with adults and teens. She provides play therapy for children, and is trained in exposure and response prevention (ERP) and EMDR, DBT and motivational interviewing.
Education & Experience
Meg earned her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Counseling from Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina. Her academic focus was on the assessment and treatment of childhood disorders and grief and loss. Her background is providing individual and group therapy in a variety of settings including a church counseling center, community mental health, a doctor’s office, hospital, outpatient, and private practice.
